gonorrhea now drug-resistance, implications are “catastrophic”

26 Apr

A recent study found that 1/4 of gonorrhea cases in the U.S. are resistant to antibiotics.   Gonorrhea is spread through oral, anal and vaginal sex. Women may experience symptoms of painful and increased urination, pelvic pain, vaginal discharge and a sore throat.  Men may experience symptoms including increased and painful urination, yellow/green/white discharge from the penis, sore testicles and urethra and a sore throat.  Many people, however, do not experience the symptoms and will continue to spread it and leave it untreated. If left untreated, gonorrhea can lead to infertility in women, epididymitus in men and even death for both.  So remember, use a condom every time and get tested every six months for all STI’s.

Real gonorrhea aint so cute...
