make love not porn

14 May

If you’ve ever watched pornography you may have noticed that the Porn World looks very different from the Real World.  Since when did so many hot women start delivering pizzas?   But beyond the terrible scripts and questionable “costumes”, hardcore porn has perpetuated sexual myths within our generation, leading to unrealistic sexpectations and unnecessary hair removal.  MakeLoveNotPorn.com, a website by Cindy Gallop, addresses the inaccuracies propogated by hardcore pornography.   So without further ado, here is how the Porn World compares to the Real World, according to Cindy:

#1: Facials

Porn World: Men love coming on women’s faces, and women love having men come on their faces.

Real World: Some women like this, some women don’t.  Some guys like this, some guys don’t.  Entirely up to personal choice.

#2: Clitoris Shmitoris

Porn World: Women come all the time in positions where nothing is going on anywhere near the clit.

Real World: There has to be some sort of rhythmic pressure on the clit in just the right way to make a woman come.  Can be pubic bone, tongue, fingers, something else entirely.  But it has to be there.

#3: Bushwacking

Porn World: Women have no hair down there.

Real World:  Some women shave, some women don’t.  Some men actively prefer women to keep their hair.  If you do shave, it requires constant maintenance which can be a pain in the… Entirely up to personal choice.

#4: Backdoor Explorations

Porn World:  All women love anal sex.

Real World:  A lot of women aren’t into the idea of anal.  Some women love it, some women don’t.  Some guys want to do it, some guys don’t fancy the idea much.  Guys, ask yourselves how you would feel about someone sticking their cock up your butt.  That will pretty much reflect broad female attitudes.  Great for both of you if you’re both into the idea; one of you may not be.

On the website Cindy also discusses dirty talk, positions, saliva and foreplay, but I believe the take home message is clear.  Hardcore pornography has mislead many young men in my generation to believe that there is such a thing as “normal” or “typical” sex.  This is a lie.  The world of sex is full of variety, and just because you prefer not to shave everything or have anal sex, that doesn’t make your sex any less hot.   Also, this website is in reference only to mainstream hardcore heterosexual porn and the implications for heterosexual couples.  Clearly pornography is created with very specific tastes in mind, and should not be applied to everyone.  Take the time to treat your lover like a person, not a porn star.
